About the event
The aim of this workshop is to explore what Ayurveda is, and how it can be applied in daily life. There will be a talk dedicated to studying the principles of Ayurveda, an ancient system for promoting and maintaining inner harmony through a variety of natural techniques, including herbs, diet and lifestyle advice. There will then be a short break, followed by a yoga practice where we will look at how to adapt our asana practice to best suit our constitution.
In the words of Dr. Vasant Lad, 'Ayurveda places great emphasis on prevention and encourages the maintenance of health through close attention to balance in one’s life, right thinking, diet, lifestyle and the use of herbs. Knowledge of Ayurveda enables one to understand how to create this balance of body, mind and consciousness according to one’s own individual constitution and how to make lifestyle changes to bring about and maintain this balance.'
We hope this will be the first of many workshops exploring the links between these two 'sister sciences', and future workshops will include a focus on digestion, sleep and relaxation, as well as the seasons.
