About the event

The aim of this workshop is to provide attendees with an understanding of what Ayurveda is, and how it can be applied in their daily life. There will be a section dedicated to studying the principles of Ayurveda, an ancient system (held by many scholars to be the oldest science devoted to healing) for promoting and maintaining inner harmony through a variety of natural techniques, including herbs, diet and lifestyle advice.

In the words of Dr. Vasant Lad, 'Ayurveda places great emphasis on prevention and encourages the maintenance of health through close attention to balance in one’s life, right thinking, diet, lifestyle and the use of herbs. Knowledge of Ayurveda enables one to understand how to create this balance of body, mind and consciousness according to one’s own individual constitution and how to make lifestyle changes to bring about and maintain this balance.'

Once these basic principles have been explored, the second half of the workshop will consist of a yoga practice drawing on these same principles, illustrating how they can be applied to an asana practice.

We hope this is the first of many workshops exploring the links between these two 'sister sciences' which ancient India has bequeathed the modern world.
